The Wilder Kaiser Brixental mountain bike region is not only the largest in the world, but also undoubtedly the most varied. Two-wheeler fans of all ages and abilities will discover an impressive range of routes in this leading Austrian bike region.

It’s easy to find your bearings when mountain biking in the Wilder Kaiser Region. You can plan bike tours that suit your daily programme by using the online interactive map. Simply choose your ability level, distance and altitude and obtain route suggestions which include detailed descriptions, suggested places to stop for refreshments and GPS tracking.


And that’s not all! Just like ski pistes in winter, all mountain bike trails are colour coded and can be easily identified as blue for easy, red for intermediate and black for difficult or single bike trails.

Mountain Bike Tours & Lifts

As mountain bike tours in the Wilder Kaiser Region can often be too difficult and technical for e-bikes. Bike trail maps showing marked routes suitable for e-bikes are available free of charge from the Tirol Lodge. Recharging stations are generally located at guesthouses and cafes in the region. Although not a steadfast rule, if you order food and drink, a battery charge will generally be included. Simply ask if you are not sure!

Most lifts in the Wilder Kaiser Region will transport your mountain bike or e-bike free of charge to the start of your tour.

Tirol Lodge is right next to the valley station of the 10-seater Hartkaiser cable car, so no need to waste precious time travelling to the lift in the morning.

Alpencross & Technique Training

If you are looking to improve your mountain biking technique, the special technique training which takes place in Going from May to October is just right for you! Mountain bike riders of all levels can improve their skills on the special training area, pump rack and bike park. Video analysis and practical tips from professionals enable improvement in no time.

If you are already an experienced mountain biker, then the Wilder Kaiser Alpencross Tour may be just the thing for you! MTB tour number 338 features 25 challenging kilometres extending to 990 metres above sea level. We also recommend MTB tour number 349, which runs along Lake Moor in Söll and includes five kilometres of winding trail up to Lake Hintersteiner in Scheffau. This is one of the best routes for conditioned riders.

Please note that many trails are open to both bikers AND hikers. These routes are marked with the sign "Wander- / MTB-Weg". In the interests of sporting fairness and safety, we ask all mountain bikers to show consideration for hikers who may be using the same paths.

Where can I get a mountain bike map for the Wilder Kaiser?
The online interactive map is the best place to obtain up to date tours. Simply enter your parameters including distance and difficulty, to obtain a selection of suitable tour suggestions. Free of charge bike route maps are also available from the Tirol Lodge.

How many kilometres of mountain bike trails are in the Wilder Kaiser Region?
The entire Tyrolean Bike Region offers 400 kilometres of trails for mountain bikers, e-bikers and cyclists. All trails are colour coded, just like ski pistes in winter.

Is there a Bike Park in the Wilder Kaiser Region?
The Skill Park in St. Johann is suitable for training. It features a 600-metre-long trail with a range of curves, simple jumps, and elements where you can practise. Courses to help improve your riding technique are offered in the Bike Park in Going am Wilder Kaiser.

Where can I hire mountain bikes and e-bikes in the Wilder Kaiser Region?
There are 75 hire outlets in the Wilder Kaiser holiday villages, and 89 in the entire Wilder Kaiser Brixental Region. All current hire outlets, service and repair stations can be found on the interactive map.

What does the Wilder Kaiser Bike Region offer e-bikers?
Around 275 e-bikes are available to hire in the region and routes which are particularly suitable for e-bikers are clearly marked on the map. Sporty e-riders, looking to head up the mountain, will be well-served with an e-mountain bike. Guided e-bike tours are also available.

How many battery recharge stations are in the Wilder Kaiser Region?
There are 75 recharging stations in the Wilder Kaiser Region, and these are often located at cafes and guesthouses. There is generally no cost for a battery recharge if you are consuming food/drink at the locale.
